Diversity & Inclusion

Our Diversity Program

Our employee resource groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led organizations within the company that foster a diverse, inclusive workplace by providing opportunity for employees to join together, build relationships, and develop leadership skills.

These organizations help us:

  • Organize and amplify underrepresented voices necessary to our engagement efforts

  • Create bridges across sites, divisions and functions

  • Devise targeted coaching and mentoring opportunities

  • Spot and develop new leaders

  • Attract and retain talent

  • Identify learning and development focus areas

What our employees are saying...

Meet Liz Rueda Fuentes, a Training & Capabilities Manager for Newell’s Marketing Operations Team , originally from Colombia. She’s lived all over the world and has used those experiences, combined with her Latin heritage to develop the great appreciation she has for culture, and the great attitude she has towards challenging experiences.

As a Latina and an American, Liz says she embraces cultural diversity, especially during Latinx Heritage Month, “which brings us together to continue to enrich each other’s perspectives from all backgrounds.”

Meet Liana Charles, a Packaging Engineer in R&D, who shared with us how she feels her cultural heritage helped to shape who she is today, who she's most inspired by, and what Black History means to her.

"To me, Black History Month is a time to reflect on some of the greatest achievements and advancements in black American history.

I’m really inspired by several black American inventors, who’ve created some of the most commonly used tools, mechanisms, and products of our time. Madam C.J. Walker created an African American hair care line in 1905, that is still in the market today and is now used by men and women of all backgrounds with textured hair. I’m always inspired to rethink the impossible because of her story, so I can leave a legacy behind of solving problems to help people!"

Meet Kris Malkoski, the CEO of our Food Business Unit, and one of the many phenomenal women leaders at Newell Brands.

Her favorite thing about being a woman? “I love being the “glue” that keeps everything and everyone moving forward!”

Kris also shared words of wisdom for women no matter where they are on their career journey: “Don’t worry about who you are or where you have come from, worry about making a difference in everything you do…and you’ll do great!

There have been many challenges over the years, [but] I find that a challenge is like climbing a mountain. It looks huge and daunting but if you break it down into steps and complete one step after the next, you can get to the top!”

What our CEO has to say
"I’m honored to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge and commit to creating a work environment at Newell Brands where our 30,000 employees can bring their whole selves to work, achieve their full potential and feel a strong sense of belonging. Acknowledging and conquering unconscious bias and improving representation will enable us to better serve our employees, consumers, customers and shareholders. As CEOs, we need to use our collective influence to cultivate diverse and inclusive cultures which build bridges to our communities and drive meaningful dialogue and actions to overcome societal inequities. Now is the time to listen, learn and change!"
